‘Dune: Part Two’: prefiguring a Savior

In photographing “Dune: Part Two” by Denis Villeneuve, Greig Fraser, says it was “important to create iconic images” for the sequel that sees Paul Atreids (Timothée Chalamet) embraces his role as savior of the Angry people. “What we felt as if we were looking for was to create a dream, creating a memory of something … as a memory integrated in the collective consciousness of the whole population on Arrakis”, says Fraser, who took inspiration from “Lawrence of Arabia” to punctuate the great and swept visibility with intimate moments. By alluding to Paolo’s ascent in power are the images imbued with religious nuances. One of these portraits illustrates it as a dark figure that fills a monochromatic and lactiginous frame, which Fraser has shot on the spot in Jordan as a way to counter the northern golden shades of the spices planet with its dark southern counterparty. “We didn’t want it too high and we wanted to give him some of that wave.
