Three-quarters of all ports in Peru have been closed attributable to large waves lashing the coast.
Beaches are closed and fishing boats have been prevented from going out to sea as a security precaution.
The waves are brought on by persistent winds off the coast of the United States, in response to the Peruvian navy’s chief of hydrography and navigation, Enrique Varea.
