HILLSDALE – The City of Hillsdale and the Michigan Department of Transportation will collectively host an informational assembly at 6:00 pm on Thursday, January 16, for residents to ask questions and study a plan to cut back the variety of lanes on Broad Street (M-99) in Historic Downtown Hillsdale this summer season.

The metropolis’s planning fee has been discussing the proposal for years with plans to cut back the roadway from 4 to a few lanes, with the middle lane being a turning lane solely.

“The thought behind the street eating regimen is to gradual site visitors by way of downtown,” City Manager David Mackie mentioned.

The assembly will likely be held on the metropolis library, positioned at 11 East Bacon Street, and public enter will likely be thought-about when planning to “improve the downtown expertise.”

The proposed street eating regimen would prolong from Steamburg Road to Carleton Road on M-99.

The lane discount, if permitted, would prolong from Steamburg Road south of the Hillsdale County Fairgrounds to Carleton Road and permit for the creation of a motorbike lane on either side of the roadway. Parallel parking would stay on either side of the street.

Complete plans for the proposed venture are listed on town’s web site, www.cityofhillsdale.org, for assessment previous to the Jan. 16 assembly.
