WASHINGTON — President Joe Biden will host President-elect Donald Trump for a standard post-election assembly within the Oval Office on Wednesday, the White House mentioned Saturday.
This assembly is customary between the outgoing and incoming presidents and is designed partially to mark the start of a peaceable switch of energy inside American democracy.
But Trump, a Republican, didn’t host Biden, a Democrat, for a gathering after the 2020 election, when Trump misplaced his reelection bid.
Trump sought the presidency 4 years later, and this week defeated Vice President Kamala Harris, a Democrat. Trump is the primary former president to return to energy since Grover Cleveland regained the White House within the 1892 election.
The White House mentioned Biden referred to as Trump late Wednesday to congratulate him and invite him to fulfill within the Oval Office.
In a speech Thursday, Biden mentioned he assured Trump “that I might direct my complete administration to work together with his staff to make sure a peaceable and orderly transition. This is what the American folks deserve.”
Their subsequent assembly is ready for 11am
