MEXICO CITY (Reuters) – Mexico despatched a workforce of firefighters to California on Saturday to assist crews battle raging wildfires which have devastated components of Los Angeles.
“The humanitarian support workforce is leaving for Los Angeles, California,” Mexican President Claudia Sheinbaum wrote in X on Saturday morning, posting images of firefighters with Mexican and California flags standing on the tarmac in entrance of two planes.
“We are a beneficiant and supportive nation,” he added.

Six simultaneous fires which have ravaged Los Angeles County neighborhoods since Tuesday have killed at the least 11 folks and broken or destroyed 10,000 buildings. The toll is anticipated to rise as firefighters are capable of conduct house-to-house searches.
California Gov. Gavin Newsom thanked Mexico in a message on X revealed Friday after the deployment was introduced.
“California is deeply grateful for President Sheinbaum’s help as we work to quell the Los Angeles fires,” he wrote.
