Do Kwon was “handed over to the competent regulation enforcement authorities of the United States of America and brokers of the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI),” Montenegro’s Interior Ministry stated in a press release.
He was extradited following a choice by Montenegro’s Ministry of Justice to face “legal proceedings within the United States for crimes of conspiracy to commit fraud,” the assertion added.
Seoul and Washington have been looking for the South Korean’s extradition for months for his suspected position in a fraud linked to his firm’s chapter, which worn out about $40 billion from buyers’ cash and rocked international cryptocurrency markets.
Last week Justice Minister Bojan Bozovic issued the choice approving the extradition after a 12 months and a half of sentences and subsequent reversals within the matter.
Kwon’s Montenegrin attorneys denounced the choice as opposite to European extradition conventions and stated they’d enchantment to the nation’s Constitutional Court and the European Court of Human Rights.
