SINGAPORE: All 18 crew members aboard a sinking Vietnam-registered cargo ship have been rescued on Saturday morning (Jan 11) with the assistance of Singapore authorities, the Maritime and Port Authority of Singapore mentioned ( MPA).
The Maritime Rescue Coordination Center (MRCC), operated by the MPA, was alerted by the Hong Kong-registered container ship Nicolai Maersk that it had obtained a misery name from the Vietnam-registered Dolphin 18 freighter.
The Vietnamese vessel was reportedly about 274 nautical miles (507 km) southwest of Vung Tau, Vietnam, and was throughout the Singapore Maritime Search and Rescue Region.
The MRCC coordinated the search and rescue and issued navigational broadcasts to ships within the space to keep up lookout and report sightings of Dolphin 18.

Nicolai Maersk arrived on the scene shortly afterwards and efficiently rescued all 18 members of the Vietnamese crew of Dolphin 18 from the lifeboats.
