Stefon Diggs’ first (and maybe solely) season with the Houston Texans is over.
The star large receiver tore his anterior cruciate ligament within the Texans’ 23-20 win over the Indianapolis Colts on Sunday, Texans coach DeMeco Ryans confirmed to reporters on Tuesday.
Diggs was injured whereas operating a route within the third quarter of the Week 8 win, planting his knee whereas making a lower inside. He instantly fell and grabbed his knee after struggling a non-contact damage.
The damage is the second main ailment the Texans have suffered of their large receiver room of late. Standout receiver Nico Collins was positioned on injured reserve after hurting his hamstring in Week 5, although he’s anticipated to return this season. Collins led all the NFL in receiving yards when he suffered his damage.
Before Diggs’ damage, the 30-year-old had 47 receptions for 496 yards and three touchdowns within the first eight video games of the season. The four-time Pro Bowler has helped the Texans get off to a 6-2 begin. The Texans acquired Diggs in a commerce with the Buffalo Bills through the offseason, and he shall be a free agent subsequent spring.
