A robust magnitude 7.0 earthquake has struck off the northern coast of California, in response to the US Geological Survey.
Following the earthquake, a tsunami warning was issued alongside the coasts of Northern California and Southern Oregon.
The earthquake’s epicenter was marked close to Ferndale, California, a small city in Humboldt County.
It’s unclear how in depth the injury is, however a Ferndale resident who spoke to the BBC within the minutes after the earthquake mentioned that contained in the constructing she was in “it seems like a bomb went off in each room.”
Olivia Cobian, the innkeeper on the Gingerbread Mansion Inn in Ferndale, mentioned the inside of the inn now “appears like a battle zone.”
“We have big forged iron fireplaces which have been lifted and moved, the whole lot has fallen, damaged, I’m simply glad there was nobody in the home.”
