(Reuters) – Two Ukrainian missiles and 27 drones have been destroyed in Russia’s Kursk area, the governor of the area that borders Ukraine mentioned on Sunday.

It was not instantly clear which missiles have been destroyed. Kursk regional governor Alexei Smirnov didn’t present additional particulars in a submit on his Telegram channel.

The Ukrainian army later mentioned on Telegram that its forces had destroyed a Russian S-400 anti-aircraft missile system in Kursk.

Reuters couldn’t independently verify the report.

Ukrainian troops broke by Russia’s western border to Kursk on August 6 and captured some territory.

Moscow launched waves of counterattacks and has since recaptured no less than 40% of the territory it seized, however Kiev nonetheless controls about 800 sq. kilometers (309 sq. miles) within the area, a senior Ukrainian army supply mentioned Sunday.
