Numerous casualties are feared in New Orleans after a car reportedly plowed into crowds on famed Bourbon Street, the BBC’s US companion CBS reported.
A New Orleans police spokesperson stated “preliminary experiences present {that a} automobile could have crashed into a bunch of individuals” within the early hours of New Year’s Day. The spokesperson added that “deaths” had been reported.
A CBS reporter noticed a number of individuals on the bottom injured.
Witnesses advised the group {that a} car collided with the group after which the driving force began capturing, prompting police to return fireplace. Police haven’t confirmed this report.
Nola Ready, a New Orleans authorities company, stated on social media that there was “a mass casualty incident on Canal and Bourbon Street” and advised individuals close by to “transfer away from the realm.”
